Atlas storage

Do you require safe temporary or long-term storage space? We can offer short- or long-term storage at one of our facilities in either Zurich or Basel. We also have our own highly secure, customs bonded warehouse facility at our head office location in The Netherlands. This location is very close to the port of Rotterdam where we can safely store your belongings either enroute from overseas to final delivery in Switzerland or pending export clearance approval to an overseas destination. We will always offer you the most secure and cost-effective solution.

Besides our own warehouse facilities, we can also store your goods with our trusted partners around the globe. Just give us a call and we will make all the arrangements for you.

Survey
Packing

It is not required but highly recommended. A survey allows us to accurately estimate the volume of the household goods that you would like to ship. Additionally, it provides us with the opportunity to assess the local situation (access, parking spots, special requirements, etc.). A virtual survey is also possible and is sometimes preferred given distances and time zones.

Alternatively, you can provide a detailed inventory and any additional information about your move. This enables us to provide you with an indicative quotation.

We recommend that you schedule your survey at least 1 month prior to your preferred packing date. Summer is our busy season and currently we are seeing it extended from May to September. If you plan to move during this period, a survey 2-4 months in advanced is recommended.

A survey usually takes about 30 min to 1 hour.

Decide which items you would like to ship.

Identify items that may require special treatment (e.g. valuable or fragile objects).

Inform us of any difficult situations that might have occurred when you moved into your current home.

Have an idea of critical dates for your move, such as property handover dates, flights, when you would like your goods in your new location etc. so that packing dates can be booked accordingly.

You do not need to confirm your move with us immediately upon receiving a quote.  However, it is helpful for planning purposes if you can confirm 1-2 months in advance of your preferred packing dates. Especially for a move during high season (May – September)!

The time to pack a move depends on the volume of the household goods and any specific service requirements.

Yes and no. For insurance purposed it is best that our professional crews pack your items. If you would like to do some packing in advance, we are happy to bring you packing material. However, please do not close the boxes so that your Atlas crew can view the contents and confirm that they are packed correctly.

Please note, some countries with stricter customs clearance/inspections do not permit  boxes packed by owner, for this reason we recommend leaving boxes open so we can seal and sign off for them.

The import of alcohol is heavily restricted in most countries. Each county has their own regulations concerning alcohol and food and your Atlas move manager will inform you of your destination country’s regulations accordingly.

It is highly recommended but not mandatory.

Do not pack jewelry, cash, or important documents (e.g. marriage certificates, medical records, birth certificates etc.) in your shipment. We recommend that you hand-carry these items in person to your new destination.
